Radisson Colonial Hotel Helena
The Lost & Foundation benefit on April 3 helped a local Helena Family. With the help of 15 local musical acts, we raised over $12,000 the help the Nelson Family cope with debts from treatment for Ashley’s meningitis.
Katy and Jason’s daughter Ashley, 11, started suffering severe headaches in October 2015. As her pain progressed over the next month, she had several visits to the emergency room. Her condition was difficult to diagnose. An acute episode of seizures led to flying her to Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Ashley suffered excruciating pain while doctors tried to determine the problem. Part of her treatment, including spinal taps, was aimed at easing her pain. The rest was to diagnose the cause. Doctors eventually decided she had meningitis.
With continuing therapy, Ashley is growing stronger. Despite having insurance, the Nelson Family accumulated massive debt for treatment, travel, therapy, and other out-of-pocket costs.
The Lost & Foundation benefit at the Radisson Colonial Hotel included three stages featuring 15 musical acts. Fund-raising efforts included a silent auction, raffles, 50-50 drawings, and other activities. A Kids Room provided fun for children.
